Installation

This chapter discusses the installation and first use of PhotoWarp on your computer. The PhotoWarp CD includes all the software you need to use PhotoWarp on either a Mac OS X-based computer, or a Windows-based computer.

The installation process is different on the Mac and the PC, so skip ahead to the section appropriate for your computer.

For Mac OS 9 Users:

PhotoWarp 2.0 is a Mac OS X-only application. For those using Mac OS 9, PhotoWarp 1.0 is included in the installation CD. Please follow the instructions provided with PhotoWarp 1.0 if necessary.

Macintosh Installation

Before installing PhotoWarp, make sure your computer meets these system requirements:

Install QuickTime

PhotoWarp requires QuickTime 6 or above to operate. Installers for QuickTime 6.2 are contained on this CD in the "QuickTime 6 Installers" folder.

If you are using Mac OS X 10.1.x, double-click on the "QuickTime 6.2 for 10.1.dmg" file. A disk image containing the QuickTime 6.2 installer package will be mounted. Double-click on "QuickTime.pkg" to begin, then follow the installation instructions. Once QuickTime is installed, proceed to step 2 below.

If you are using Mac OS X 10.2.x "Jaguar", double-click on the "QuickTime 6.2 for 10.2.dmg" file. A disk image containing the QuickTime 6.2 installer package will be mounted. If the Installer is not automatically launched, double-click on "QuickTime.pkg" to begin, then follow the installation instructions. Once QuickTime is installed, proceed to step 2 below.

Install PhotoWarp 2.0

Now we're ready to install PhotoWarp itself. Double-click on the "PhotoWarp 2.0" disk image on the CD. In the folder that appears, simply drag the PhotoWarp icon to your Applications folder, or anywhere you would prefer to install the application.

Running PhotoWarp the First Time

We recommend that you connect to the Internet before running PhotoWarp the first time. PhotoWarp 2.0 includes an automatic update feature that will download software updates from our web server.

PhotoWarp will prompt you for a license number when it starts up. This can be found on your registration card or on the CD jacket. The program will offer to register your software automatically.

Congratulations! PhotoWarp is installed and ready to use.

Windows Installation

Before installing PhotoWarp, make sure your computer meets these system requirements:

Install the Microsoft .Net Framework

First, we need to install the .Net Framework, a set of support libraries which PhotoWarp uses. Right-click on the PhotoWarp CD icon in Windows Explorer, then click on "Install .Net" in the menu. Windows 98 users will need to restart after installing .Net before continuing.

Install QuickTime

For best results with PhotoWarp, you will want to use the latest QuickTime version, contained on this CD. PhotoWarp will run with versions as old as QuickTime 5.0.1, but some features of the program may be disabled or not work correctly.

To install QuickTime, right-click on the PhotoWarp CD icon in Windows Explorer, then click on "Install QuickTime". Follow the installation instructions that appear. Once QuickTime is installed, move on to Step 3 below.

Install PhotoWarp 2.0

Finally, we're ready to install PhotoWarp itself. Once again, right-click on the PhotoWarp CD icon, and choose "Install PhotoWarp".
