How it Works

The Camera Database contains specifications for hundreds of cameras and lenses. The specifications are drawn, either automatically or manually, from many sources on the web that record this information for a wide range of products.

The scoring and compatibility information described is based upon a mathematical model of the camera, lens, optic and particular mounting configuration described. This model was derived by evaluating a small selection of cameras manually, and then designing a model whose rankings largely agree with the performance of those select cameras. The model is then applied across all valid camera/lens and optic combinations.

No Direct Evaluation

EyeSee360 nor its distributors, resellers or wholesalers have not directly evaluated the cameras, lenses or optics contained in the database unless specifically noted otherwise. Due to the extraordinary number of possible configurations it is impractical for us to test every one.

Possibility of Errors

The camera database may contain errors as a result of incorrect or missing specifications, or deficiencies in our scoring model. These errors may result in incorrect or inappropriate scoring, usage or mounting configurations. EyeSee360 makes no claims as to the veracity of the data presented.

Correcting Errors

Whenever specifications are missing in the database they are highlighted in this style. You can click in any of these boxes and manually type in the correct value if you know it. The page will update per the new information.

If you suspect the specifications indicated are incorrect for a particular configuration, you can correct the specification by clicking the "[Edit]" link in the Camera Specifications section. The compatibility score, usage and mounting information will update automatically based on your changes.

To assist us in improving the database, you can send this information to us by using the "[Send to EyeSee360]" link afterwards, so that we can update the database after we have verified the changes.

Updates to the Database

EyeSee360 regularly updates the database to add new cameras and lenses. This is mostly done through automated mechanisms. Specifications for certain configurations may be changed as a result of this process as new information is gathered or corrections are posted. Thus the information you receive for a given configuration may change over time.

EyeSee360 may also change the evaluation model from time to time. This will result in camera configurations receiving different scores than before with the same specifications. We do this when we have evidence that the model was not accurately describing the performance of certain configurations.
